DAY 4. Share a Christmas story or write one of your own.
I thought I would share a little rhyming Christmas poem I wrote a few years ago, inspired by an awesome sci-fi show called Stargate:Atlantis.
*Please Note* This is not a poem for children!
Christmas Eve in Atlantis
by Michelle Sommerville
‘Twas the night before Christmas,
And Atlantis was beaming;
People tucked into their beds,
All peaceful and dreaming.
The stockings were hung by the Stargate with care,
SGA-1 storming a secret Wraith lair;
Weir still on base, holding the fort,
‘Can Santa find us’, not a far away thought.
The Stargate whirs and the lights turn on,
Like a Christmas star, it brightly shone;
The team runs through with only moments to spare,
Waiting for Santa becoming their only true care.
Tucking into bed, putting head on pillow,
Pretending to be asleep, Santa creeps in a window;
Ronon and Teyla unaware of Saint Nick,
What happened next, just too damn quick.
Thinking an intruder, or possibly Wraith,
If only they’d believed and had a little faith;
Nick’s neck was snapped, and ripped right off,
Ronon’s gun shooting poor little Rudolph.
The blood sprayed everywhere, coating the walls,
No time this year, for decking the halls;
The city awoke with a shot and a cry,
In time to see, ‘rest of the reindeers fly.
Ronon and Teyla imprisoned by decree,
Should they be hung up high on the Christmas tree?
With them now dead and their presents now alone,
Should their presents go back to the Arctic Zone?
With no other way in mind, Sheppard came through,
And took home their gifts, all shiny and new;
With the day almost over and the people tuckered out,
‘Could Christmas even continue?’ McKay thought in horrible doubt.
As sudden as anything, amazingly taking place,
Jolly Saint Nick reborn, for the old one he’d replace;
With a shout as he left, forgivingly he did recite,
“Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.”
Hope you enjoyed!
